You can trust that your pet will receive the ultimate package of healthcare whilst being a patient at Stanhope Park Veterinary Hospital.
We look after all types of animals from dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs to chinchillas, rats, mice, reptiles and other exotic animals. We provide all the essential vet practice services you would expect plus a whole host of specialist vet services due to us being part of the Royal Veterinary College’s network of world-leading facilities.
We have a fantastic team of vets working across our 3 surgeries many of whom have particular areas of expertise or advanced qualifications in:
- Internal medicine
- Surgery – soft tissue/orthopaedics
- Exotic and small mammal species
- Dentistry and gum disease
- Ultrasound and x-rays
In addition, our highly experienced vet nurses have advanced qualifications in areas such as emergency and critical care, pet welfare and behaviour.
Our exceptional team are accredited members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme.
Together we have achieved hospital status which is the highest standard a practice can reach. Meeting such high standards requires hard work, dedication and a very stringent inspection which looks at all aspects of the practice, including hygiene, on-site facilities, health and safety for staff, patients and their humans, laboratory facilities, equipment, emergency cover, and staff training.
We are the only practice within a 30-mile radius to hold this accreditation.
If your pet requires specialised medical attention that our smaller practices cannot accommodate, we have a dedicated ambulance service which will safely transport them to our Stanhope Road branch, free of charge.
We also provide our own out-of-hours emergency service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from our Stanhope Road Hospital, so you can rest assured that should an emergency occur, you will still see a familiar face who has instant access to your pet’s medical history.
Of course, it’s not just about emergency treatment, we want your pet to live a long and happy life so we offer a range of Nurse Clinics which will help you and your pet achieve this. From free weight management clinics to diabetes and senior care clinics, we take a fully holistic approach to pet care.
If you’re a first time pet owner then it can seem a little daunting, but we’ve got you covered with puppy and kitten clinics, first vaccination packages all backed up by our friendly and caring team who will be on hand to help with any questions or information you may need.
This is all adds up to you having access to world-class veterinary knowledge and expertise right in the heart of Darlington.
We are the only clinic in County Durham to have achieved Gold Standard” Cat Friendly Clinic status – the highest accolade awarded by the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM and we understand the very different needs of our feline friends and always wanted to do something more to make their vet visits as stress free as possible. Cats just don’t feel safe in unfamiliar environments and become extra perceptive to unusual sounds, sights and smells which is why our Duke Street branch is dedicated completely to our cats and exotic friends.
We are proud of the environment we have created and we’re proud of our dedicated feline staff, who ensure your cat remains calm and receives the best possible care. Since progressing from cat only clinics to a fully equipped cat hospital, we have seen a vast improvement in the stress levels of our patients, whether that be for routine boosters or surgery.
